The recent blast of sunshine may seem like a long time ago but for us it coincided nicely with our recent site visit following the commencement of the timber frame works at our project for the Lutheran Church on Adelaide Road in Dublin. The external walls adjacent to the neighbouring properties are in place and the outline of meeting rooms 1 & 2 is beginning to appear. The sections of wall panel are being constructed in a purpose made temporary workshop located in the garden behind the church.

Of great interest is the consignment of glulam beams and columns that have just arrived from Germany. The building structure is a simple glulam timber frame designed in conjunction with Casey O’Rourke.

Please check back over the coming weeks to see how things are going. In the meantime below are a few images of the glulam frame components, including the colonnade structure.

The project is a new pastoral centre (Lutherhaus) designed as a single storey flexible space arranged with a west facing colonnade to form a courtyard garden at the rear of the existing church. The current pastoral facilities are located in the lower floor of the adjacent Pastor’s dwelling and are insufficient for the growing needs of the community.
