Ballymahon Community Library was officially opened on Friday 18 February by Longford Mayor Cllr. Paul Connell and former TD Peter Kelly. The first floor local studies room was at full capacity for a welcoming atmosphere and ceremony led by the County Librarian Mary Carleton-Reynolds. The acoustics of the room were tested initially with some eloquent readings from the work of Oliver Goldsmith, and then by a lively rendition of The Rising of the Moon by John Keegan ‘Leo’ Casey. An extensive collection of the work of both local writers is now incorporated in the new library.
