Seville Place School

Client; Dublin Docklands Development Authority
Tender Stage

St. Laurence O’Toole Special School is a community - based high support school.

The new school complements the existing form of the dwellings that currently occupy the site, and continue the existing terraces of  both Emerald Street and Seville Place.

The accommodation for the school is arranged over four levels, with a basement across the entire site for the kitchen, home economics room, dining and recreation areas. The main teaching areas, exhibition spaces and staff rooms are located on the ground and first floors, with the arts and craft room on the second floor, concealed behind the roof, and benefiting from good natural daylight.
There are external play areas on the ground floor and on the roof garden over the classrooms, with light-wells providing daylight and ventilation to the basement.
The building received Planning permission from Dublin City Council in June 2008.
