Tallaght Plaza

Client; South Dublin County Council
Completed; December 2008

As part of the Tallaght Zip project, two public spaces were redeveloped in an otherwise uninspiring part of Tallaght.

The materials used in the Zip were repeated in the plaza to define different areas of the public space. The silver grey granite predominately used on the ground surface is continued up to form the new boundary walls to the adjoining properties. The new Silver Lime trees are linked back via black granite strips in the ground to the new raised planter also clad in black granite. New seats along the planter wall provide a perfect place to view the relocated sculpture or be a meeting point.

The project has received the following design awards:

- RIAI Awards 2009, Winner Best Public Space.

- Irish Landscape Institute Awards 2009, Commended Public Realm Award.
