We have designed this new neighbourhood of 84 dwellings to focus around a new, distinctive south-facing crescent. This makes a distinctive and memorable ‘place’ in an area of Dublin otherwise characterised by anonymous housing estates. The crescent is terminated at both ends with higher buildings that act as visual bookends, and as eye catchers to end the views from new streets approaching from the south. Behind the crescent is a series of smaller scale, quieter, tree lined streets, where pedestrians have priority over cars. The dwellings range from four bedroom houses to one bedroom apartments, with each house having its own front garden, front door and private and secure garden to the rear.
The project has received the following design awards:
- RIAI Siver Medal for Housing 2003-4.Highly Commended.
- RIAI Special Award (Best Housing Project) 2004.
-OPUS Special Award (Best Housing Project) 2004.
