Client; Ballymun Regeneration Ltd.
Completed October 2007
This is a scheme of 30 new homes for Ballymun Regeneration Ltd in the south of Ballymun. The buildings face east, overlooking school playing fields, and are prominently visible from the main approach road into Ballymun. The development is designed as a long terrace, broken up into groups of four 3- storey houses, flanked on either side by taller four storey buildings, containing apartments and maisonettes. This creates separately identifiable areas to encourage a local sense of ownership and the social development of the neighborhood. At the end of the terrace is a small “place”, enclosed by buildings on three sides, and planted with trees.
All rooms in every home has natural ventilation, including internal rooms, using passive stack ventilation systems. The air outlets for these are expressed on the roofs as tall, distinctive metal clad chimneys.
